Headache Research and Development
Research and development is vital to the treatment of migraine. Migraine
used to be the 'Rodney Dangerfield' of diseases. It got no respect.
Things have changed dramatically in the past five years. In 1998,
the FDA approved three new drugs for the treatment of migraine. In
addition, new research studies are underway for new drugs to prevent
migraine.
All of this is great news for those who suffer with migraine. The
Valley Neurological Headache and Research Center is at the forefront
of migraine research. We have participated in the clinical trials
of six migraine drugs, five of which are now on the market. Without
the help of our patients who joined us in these trials, research
would be impossible.
There are many benefits that come with being part of a research
study. You get access to the latest medication used in the treatment
of migraine. It is extremely rewarding to know that your participation
in a study helped your fellow migraine sufferer. Since Dr. Foster
is actively involved in migraine research, she is well informed
regarding the latest in migraine therapy.
